During the annual migration south, the greater sandhill cranes stage in the Yampa Valley in September in Steamboat Springs, CO. Wheat is a staple for these cranes as they fill up before migrating further south. I have the opportunity to scout cranes each sunrise and sunset before and during the Yampa Valley Crane Festival.
